FPS is the Netherlands' oldest and second largest studbook. At this time there are about 40,000 Friesian horses registered. FPS attends to the studbook administration for the entire world, thus guarding the interests of the breed. The organization also works closely with breeding associations operating under the auspices of FPS in other countries.

Friesian HorseAmerican Secretary to the Friesenpferde Zuchtverband e. V. (FPZV)

Since 1979 the FPZV has encouraged the breeding and development of sport Friesians. Although FPZV registered Friesians are the same breed of horse as the Dutch regisered Friesians, German breeding standards allow us to aggressively pursue a more performance-oriented goal, bringing the Friesian horse to its full potential as a sport horse, while preserving the breed's carefully developed beauty by maintaining the strict conformation standards.

Friesian HorseInternational Friesian Show Horse Association (IFSHA)

In 2001, the International Friesian Show Horse Association, a California not-for-profit corporation, was created and dedicated to the promotion, showing and exhibition of the Friesian horse and its derivatives. Our goal is to provide a way for the Friesian breed to obtain membership with the US Equestrian Federation. Our sole purpose is to provide a USEF-rated show circuit for the Friesian horse. It is important to note that IFSHA is NOT a breed registry.

Friesian CrossAmerican Friesian Association (AFA)

The American Friesian Association (AFA) was organized in 2004 by a group of Friesian enthusiasts who recognized the need for an American-based registry for purebred and partbred Friesian horses. The AFA's mission is to preserve and promote the purebred Friesian horse in America, to promote the Friesian Warmblood (partbred) horse in America, and to serve the needs of the owners and breeders of these horses. The AFA is committed to the breed standard of the purebred Friesian horse, as interpreted from the Friese Paardon Stamboek (FPS), and recognizes and encourages the breeding of sound, healthy horses suitable for performance in the modern equestrian world.

Friesian CrossFriesian Heritage Horse (FHH)

The Friesian Heritage Horse & Sporthorse International was established by many of the same dedicated people who worked to build and operated one of the most successful Friesian crossbred registries of today. These people are sincerely devoted to promoting horses of Friesian heritage in a manner that aims to secure the value of these wonderful horses now and into the future.

Friesian CrossFriesian Horse Society (FHS)

The FHS is a non-profit organization whose mission is to both promote and preserve the beautiful Friesian hrose through education and strict registration standards, as originated in the Netherlands for this Dutch breed. Established in 1993 as a European North American affiliate, the FHS now serves as an American Friesian registry with its primary goal being the breeding of pure offspring of this unique, centuries-old breed of horse.

Friesian CrossFriesian SportHorse Association (FSA)

The Friesian Sporthorse Association is the official registry of the Friesian Sporthorse. It is our goal to encourage and recognize quality Friesian crossbreds bred especially as sporthorses, based on established sporthorse and Warmblood breeding practices and registration guidelines. We are not just another registry for Friesian crossbreds, we are a registry devoted exclusively for the Friesian Sporthorse.

The Canadian Friesian Horse Association will strive to assist Canadian breeders, owners, and Friesian enthusiasts to access affordable professional advice and services in order to breed, register, evaluate and award these magnificent animals in accordance with the breeding standards and rules of their mother studbooks and the Canadian Animal Pedigree Act.
